Our Purpose and Mission
Food security is an ever growing and challenging task due to the extreme influx in the population. One solution to this problem is to work towards every city on the planet having a vertical farm capable of providing food to a large quantity of people. Our action will be to set up workshops promoting and teaching people about how this technology has the ability to change the world in a positive manner and help ease the food crisis we’re facing. We here at Sky Garden LLC want to change this for the better. With your support we can reach out and spread our message and help educate and motivate the world to become a cleaner and more sustainable environment one vertical farm at a time.
FAQs
What kinds of crops can be grown in a vertical farm?
Not all crops can be grown with this method, but the crops that can be include fruiting plants such as strawberries and blueberries, many types of lettuce, and so on. No pesticides are used so the crops that we grow are healthier and more nutritious.
What are the benefits of vertical farming?
Vertical farms see a massive reduction in water usage due to a complex irrigation system that works to drip and spray water from top to bottom. Being vertical, a lot less space is required which allows farms to be built in tight urban spaces. Crops grown see a 30% greater yield in a fraction of the time, and with a much smaller harm on the Earth's soils.
What are the difficulties or downsides of vertical farms?
Vertical farming is difficult. It requires highly skilled operators to plan, build, and manage the farm over time. It also costs a lot to initially set up because you have to build the structure. Lastly, it requires a ton of energy because you have to keep the lights on 24/7. But on the upside, as technology continues to advance, these farms will become more and more practical.
Is there anyway I can get involved and learn more?
